About John:
John Stapleton was born in Huntington, West Virginia and has lived in the Huntington area for the majority of his life. John has been successfully practicing law in the Huntington area since 1979. John is licensed to practice law in both West Virginia and Kentucky. John is one of the very most experienced divorce and family law attorneys in the area and has been practicing law longer than many younger divorce lawyers have been alive! John also handles Social Security Disability and SSI cases, estates, criminal law matters and many other types of cases. John’s skills in family law matters are so well known that people as far away as Texas and California have hired John to fly all the way to those states to handle their family law matters. Like all of the attorneys in the office, John offers a free appointment to come into the office and have your questions answered and learn about your rights and options.
John is also a retired Captain in the United States Army and takes a special interest in handling cases where one of the parties is or was in the military.
John took only two years to graduate from Wayne High School, and then took only two years to graduate from Marshall University. John then entered West Virginia University College of Law where he was one of the youngest people to ever be admitted to West Virginia University College of Law. John is married Laura Leveridge Stapleton who is a Mathematics Professor at Marshall University. John has one daughter and one stepson.
John is a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, as well as a past president of the Gideons Society and is a frequent guest speaker at many area churches.
